According to SDA, Le Courrier is drawing attention to its predicament in the Saturday edition and encouraging its subscribers to find new readers. Friends of regular customers can get to know the daily newspaper free of charge for two weeks.

Together with last year's losses, the deficit will rise to around 300,000 francs. Le Courrier therefore runs the risk that 2005 will be its last year. Le Courrier is run by a non-profit organization and operates with a budget of 4 million francs, according to the news agency SDA.
