SRG launches a company-wide transformation

On her first day at work, SRG Director General Susanne Wille announced the start of a company-wide transformation to employees. On behalf of the Board of Directors and in collaboration with the Executive Board, she is launching and taking responsibility for a strategy and organizational development process. This will be new for SRG in terms of approach, depth, complexity and timetable.

Susanne Wille addressed SRG employees via video conference on Friday, November 1, 2024. She welcomed the workforce, announced her priorities and then exchanged views with employees from the various regions.

The Director General's priority is a company-wide transformation that is being carried out under the name "Enavant SRG SSR". In Romansh, "Enavant" means "forward", "further". The strategy and organizational development process is based on various factors. It is the entrepreneurial duty of SRG to align itself carefully and far-sightedly to a changed financial framework. Planning factors include the gradual reduction in the media levy in accordance with the Federal Council's amended ordinance, a significant decline in advertising revenue and rising prices. SRG anticipates that it will have to save around CHF 270 million by 2029, which corresponds to a budget reduction of around 17%. In addition, changes in media usage and international competition will make it necessary for the company to adapt.

"Enavant SRG SSR" is the biggest transformation in the company's history to date. The process is new in terms of its approach, depth, complexity and speed. Budget reductions will not be distributed exclusively to the business units, but the company will be viewed as a whole. The questions are what service strategy SRG will use to meet the demands of the public media service of the future and how it will continue to offer the public added value. What structures and processes SRG will need in the future, how it will organize cooperation within the business units, how it will use technology and how the transformation will succeed within the specified timeframe.

Susanne Wille emphasized that SRG must act quickly. That is why, following the analysis since her election and in consultation with the Board of Directors and the Executive Board, she as Director General has now initiated the start of the strategy process. Susanne Wille also mentioned that SRG would provide transparent information as soon as the key figures were clearer - first to employees and then to the public.

An SRG at the service of society

The new Director General's other priorities are programming and dialog with the public and politicians. Susanne Wille wants to get involved in the ongoing political process on the halving initiative and demonstrate SRG's added value for society. "I stand for an SRG that is forward-looking, agile and reliable at the same time," says Susanne Wille.
