Billag successor Serafe complains about too much work

Serafe, the successor to Billag, has criticized the cantons and municipalities in the dispute over issues related to the radio and TV license fee. They need to get their flawed registries in order, a Serafe spokesperson told *Zentralschweiz am Sonntag* and *Ostschweiz am Sonntag*.

Serafe had to accept "thousands of complaints" from customers who had received incorrect invoices due to "billing inaccuracies" resulting from data supplied by the municipalities and cantons. Despite a year and a half of preparation, this had not been foreseeable.

In January, 3.6 million bills for radio and television reception fees were sent out for the first time by the new collection agency. The sending of some bills to incorrect addresses led to mass complaints. The Federal Office of Communications (Bakom) reacted and decreed to relieve the authorities that only Serafe and no longer the residents' registration office should serve as the information point.
