Axel Springer Switzerland: Thomas Garms becomes a member of the Management Board

Effective September 1, 2012, Thomas Garms will be appointed to the executive board of Axel Springer Switzerland. In this capacity, he will serve as publishing director, overseeing the business media and corporate publishing activities.

Thomas Garms is taking over the business media from Jörg Tobuschat, who was previously responsible for this area on an interim basis alongside the program media. Tobuschat will continue to be responsible for program media as Managing Director and member of the Executive Board. Axel Springer announced this in a media communiqué on Thursday.

Garms has held various positions at Axel Springer in Germany and Switzerland since 2001. Among other things, he was editor-in-chief of Welt am Sonntag and Hörzu. He has been working for Axel Springer in Switzerland since September 2011, where he set up the Corporate Publishing department, which will continue to be under his responsibility. Thomas Garms, Jörg Tobuschat and Roland Wahrenberger, Publishing Director of the Beobachter Group, will in future manage the operational business of Axel Springer in Switzerland together with COO Marcel Hürlimann.

"Our Swiss business media have developed excellently under the management of Jörg Tobuschat," says Ralph Büchi, Chief International Officer of Axel Springer. Against the background of the increased digitization of business media and increasing activities in corporate publishing, both activities will now be merged into a joint area of responsibility and the management will be expanded. With his experience in journalism and management at Axel Springer, Thomas Garms is ideally suited to drive forward the digitization of the offerings, says Büchi.
