Arte does not want to show documentary about hostility towards Jews in Europe
The Franco-German broadcaster Arte has decided not to air a documentary on anti-Semitism in Europe.

The film dealt with the central theme "only very partially" and did not correspond to the approved project, it was said in justification. In their search for explanations for modern anti-Semitism in Europe, the filmmakers conducted interviews in Germany and France, as well as in Israel and Gaza.
Author Joachim Schroeder, on the other hand, suspected that the French were afraid that the film could provoke the Muslim part of the population. A state of emergency has been in force in France for over a year following several Islamist-motivated attacks.
Historian Götz Aly accuses the broadcaster of censorship. "The whole thing stinks to high heaven", writes he wrote in the Berliner Zeitung. Aly, who has seen the film, describes it as "differentiated". The film gains "its power from intensive research and changing perspectives". (SDA/hae)
