Press Subsidies The Council of States declined to consider the bill introduced by the National Council that would have allowed the federal government to provide direct press subsidies.

Press subsidies The Council of States has not accepted the media article with which the National Council wanted to allow the federal government to directly subsidize the press, but instead continues to rely on reduced postal taxes for newspaper transport. The importance of the press for the democratic formation of opinion at national, cantonal, regional and local level should be given particular consideration.
