UPC Cablecom: Horizon campaign annoys Biel residents

UPC Cablecom is upsetting consumers in Biel with a Horizon campaign. The problem: The new set-top box isn't even available in that region.

Like 20min.ch reportsUPC Cablecom's broad-based marketing campaign for the newly launched Horizon box (Werbewoche.ch reported) in Biel for red heads. Biel has a "huge backlog" when it comes to the construction of fast fiber optic lines and high-speed Internet is available everywhere. The fact that coverage is so poor in the "city of communication" is a source of irritation for many Biel residents.

It is therefore not surprising that the Wunderbox posters in public places in Biel are not very well received. UPC-Cablecom spokesman Marc Maurer told 20min.ch that, unlike most other major Swiss cities, Horizon cannot be offered in Biel for capacity reasons. However, residents could continue to order the existing set-top box. It remains to be seen whether this argument will appease the people of Biel. After all, the previous Cablecom boxes have made a name for themselves in the past with their user-friendliness, high power consumption and lack of functionality. (hae)
