Up to three hours of TV a day
MEDIA USE TV usage in Switzerland remains high. This is confirmed by the latest semester figures from the independent research institute Mediapulse. Swiss Germans spend an average of 131 minutes a day in front of the TV. In the first half of 2016, people in Switzerland watched a lot of television as usual. Up to three hours (182 minutes) of television were watched daily in the Svizzera italiana. The German-speaking Swiss watched 131 minutes and the French-speaking Swiss watched 153 minutes. Compared to the previous semesters, reach increased slightly. TV achieved a daily reach of 66.9% in German-speaking Switzerland, 68.3% in the Suisse romande and 77.8% in the Svizzera italiana.

The proportion of time-shifted TV usage continues to rise steadily. Among younger viewers aged 15-29 in German-speaking Switzerland in particular, around a fifth of usage is already in time-shifted form (20.1% of total usage). The same applies in French-speaking Switzerland, where the proportion of time-shifted viewing in the young target group of 15-29-year-olds has already reached 21.9%. In an overall analysis of time-shifted viewing by all people aged 3 and over, there is hardly any difference between the language regions.
