Swiss Films with a new look: Redesgin successfully launched
Swiss Films, the promotional agency for Swiss cinema, has revamped its corporate design. It was successfully launched at the 70th Cannes Film Festival, where the redesigned Swiss Films Pavilion was honored with the «Pavilion Design Award.».

At the 70th Locarno Festival, Swiss Films presented its new national look for the first time. In an environment strongly dominated by film imagery, the new CD stands out with its reduced black and white typography, clarity and elegance. Criteria such as quality, precision, innovation and sustainability were given high priority in the choice of partners and the development of the presentation.

The new visual identity was conceived and developed by Swiss designers Corina Neuenschwander and Simone Koller from Studio NOI in Zurich. It is based on the "Heidi Maria" font adapted for Swiss Films by type designer Phil Barber, on a concise, variable lettering, on the use of dialog quotes from current Swiss films as well as on animated visuals and the accent color silver. These five elements give the website a clear, strong identity with a high recognition value.
The new lettering impresses with its reduction and generosity at the same time. It is used as a logo in a compact version, while in Swiss Films publications the words "Swiss" and "Films" are placed in brackets. This opens up the lettering to a wide range of content and creates space for wordplay and campaigns.

Film quotes and animated visuals characterize the new Swiss Films identity
The film quotes add a reflective component to the Swiss Films presentation. It puts the focus on what films are all about: telling a story. The quotes are intended to catch the eye, arouse curiosity and thus reinforce the storytelling surrounding Swiss filmmaking.

Matched to the respective campaign, suitable "linking lines" such as "Supporting you", "Introducing you", "Promoting you", "Connecting you" or "Visit us" create a reference to Swiss Films and draw attention to its fields of activity. The target audience is thus addressed directly.
The artistic visuals serve as eye-catchers and give the identity of Swiss Films a dynamic, atmospheric framework. They take up specific characteristics of the festival location or the film genres and are used online as moving images and animations. Four visuals are created annually for festival communication in Berlin, Cannes, Locarno and Toronto, where Swiss Films is present with market and networking activities. Three further visuals are produced specifically for the promotion of the film formats short film, documentary and animation.
Every year, Swiss Films hires a photographer to incorporate their personal perspective into the visuals. In the first year, the internationally renowned Lausanne photographer Matthieu Lavanchy was recruited for the visuals.
Silver was chosen as an accent and additional color as a reference to the medium of film (light, projection, "silver screen"), but also to the Swiss mountains (granite, slate, glistening snow). With silvery elements, the CD aims to set specific accents and lend glitz and glamor to the presentation of the Swiss film.
Swiss Films honored with Pavilion Design Award in Cannes
Tobias Klauser and Carlo Lienhard from Design Studio Klauser Lienhard in Zurich have redesigned the pavilion at the Cannes Film Market for Swiss Films. It was chosen as the most beautiful pavilion out of over 100 pavilions at the Cannes Film Festival.

Swiss Films Director Catherine Ann Berger accepted the "Pavilion Design Award" from the three-member jury, consisting of Pierre Lescure (President Festival de Cannes), Françoise Delbecq (journalist Elle) and Dominique Vachon (former CEO of Vachon). The jury praised the multifunctionality, intelligence, sustainability, high quality and simple, beautiful design of the pavilion. The "Pavilion Design Award" was presented for the first time this year.

Création Baumann, a top-class, internationally renowned Swiss textile label, was secured as a partner for the interior design. The long-established Langenthal-based company furnished the entire Swiss Films pavilion with the new upholstery and acoustic fabric Arik.
Simple mobile stand elements also guarantee continuity of appearance at the festivals in Locarno and Berlin.
