SW and PS plan new umbrella organization

SW Schweizer Werbung and PS Publicité Suisse are planning to merge more closely. The decision will be made by the members of the two previously independent advocacy groups for commercial communication in Switzerland.

This will take place at the respective general meetings next year. Based on their letter of intent from 2012, the boards of SW Schweizer Werbung and PS Publicité Suisse initiated a process this summer to adapt the structures of the two umbrella organizations to the current requirements of the Swiss and international advertising market. Various working groups are currently exploring the possibilities and evaluating optimal association structures. The aim is to present the members of both associations, which are currently still legally independent, with a corresponding proposal for discussion at the 2015 general meetings. Filippo Lombardi, Member of the Council of States and President of SW Schweizer Werbung, is convinced that the time is ripe for a national association: "Especially today, when commercial communication is coming under increasing pressure and the scope for creative advertising is being restricted by numerous guidelines and bans, it is crucial that we move closer together and speak with one voice". François Besençon, President of PS Publicité Suisse, adds: "We are optimistic that our members will recognize the need to work together to achieve more for our industry than we can alone."

SW Schweizer Werbung is the umbrella organization for commercial communication. It represents the interests of advertising clients, contractors, media companies and agencies and represents almost 22,000 employees in Switzerland. PS Publicité Suisse was founded in 1928 and is the umbrella organization for commercial communication in French-speaking Switzerland. Together with SW Schweizer Werbung, it is committed to liberal advertising guidelines with all its resources and throughout the country.
