The growing use of language models such as ChatGPT and Gemini is also changing the way people search for and consume content. Sunrise is responding to this trend with a new feature: It is the first TV provider in Switzerland to launch SuperSearch, an AI-powered, cross-platform search feature for TV and streaming content.

The new function is designed to make the tedious search through program guides or streaming apps superfluous. Instead, a simple voice command such as "Show me movies with Brad Pitt" is all it takes - and "SuperSearch" searches linear TV, replay TV, on-demand offerings and streaming services such as Disney+, Prime Video or Sky for suitable results.
Technically, the innovation is based on the Google Gemini Flash large language model, which understands natural language and interprets complex search queries based on context. This enables SuperSearch to correctly assign even vaguely formulated questions such as "I want to find out about space" or "Show me films with the actors from Titanic" and present them in a visually appealing way.
This makes the function very different from conventional keyword searches, which usually only recognize exact terms. "SuperSearch places queries in a semantic context, takes actors, genres or topics into account and combines results from different platforms.
For Sunrise, the launch is a further step towards personalizing the TV experience. Following the introduction of the "TV Highlights" clips in the mobile app, "SuperSearch" will now also offer more convenience and an overview on the TV Box. "We are demonstrating the benefits of artificial intelligence in an increasingly complex media environment," says Christoph Richartz, Chief Consumer Officer Main Brand at Sunrise. "SuperSearch finds your favorite shows quickly, precisely and across all platforms - this is unique in the Swiss market."
"SuperSearch" is now available on the Sunrise TV Box - in German, French, Italian and English. The function is fully voice-controlled and uses multimodal AI capabilities to process text, image and video content together.
