Spotlight 2011: International advertising film festival with many social spots

Last week, the 14th edition of the international advertising film festival Spotlight took place in Mannheim. This year, a large number of social spots were submitted, which addressed the current social debate on values and humanity in the format of advertising films.

As always, the Spotlight program took place over two days. The expert jury met on the first day, while the festival opened up to the public on the second day. While the last few festivals were dominated by virals and new advertising formats, experiments and technological gimmicks have now taken a back seat, as the organizers announced on Saturday. There was a conspicuously high number of submissions in the Social Spots category, advertising films for social causes.

In the main competition for professionals and in the student competition, the submitted spots competed against each other in the categories "tv & cinema" and "web & mobile". Awards were presented by a jury of experts. Audience prizes were also awarded.
