Saudi Arabian soap films episodes in Switzerland thanks to Switzerland Tourism
Switzerland Tourism aims to introduce Arab vacationers to Switzerland as a vacation destination through television. This week, five to seven episodes of the Saudi Arabian soap opera «Saudiyat» (meaning “The Saudis” in English) will be filmed in Zurich and Bern.

Switzerland Tourism and Zurich Tourism will cover the flight, hotel and meals, a spokesperson for Switzerland Tourism told the SDA news agency. He confirmed a report by the SonntagsBlick. The marketing organization does not provide any information on the size of the individual budgets, partly because these are covered by a wide range of collaborations.

The episodes of "Saudiyat" filmed in Switzerland will be seen by the inhabitants of the Gulf States during the fasting month of Ramadan next year. An audience of 150 million is expected.
Such a cooperation with a TV production rarely or never has directly measurable consequences, writes the spokesperson. However, it serves to strengthen the "Switzerland" brand and position it in line with the target group, as well as to inspire viewers for their next vacation. For this reason, the organization repeatedly works with TV productions, this year already with those from Korea, India, the USA and Benelux.
Marketing Switzerland has defined the Gulf states, which include Bahrain, Qatar, Kuwait, Oman, Saudi Arabia and the United Arab Emirates, as a strategic growth market.
Between January and July, local hotels recorded 431,959 overnight stays by guests from the Gulf States, according to figures from the Federal Statistical Office. This is almost three times as many as in the same period ten years ago. Compared to the previous year, however, overnight stays grew at a slower rate of 1.6 percent. (SDA)
