Ringier still wants Martin Kall, Tamedia must wait

The Ringier Group's current fiscal year has been «unsatisfactory,» publisher Michael Ringier said Tuesday at a press conference.

The current financial year of the Ringier Group is "not satisfactory," publisher Michael Ringier said at a media conference on Tuesday.Specifically, he expects a profit of between 30 and 35 million francs. Last year, Ringier achieved a record profit of 50.4 million francs. Sales for 2001 are expected to be 1.1 billion francs, about 10 percent more than in 2000.The newspaper business is more or less stable. SonntagsBlick had slightly increased its circulation, Blick had been able to maintain it. The decline in advertising was limited. Cash, on the other hand, had not had a good year. No decision has yet been made on a new editor-in-chief.
Martin Kall's successor on Ringier's Group Executive Board will be announced on Dec. 17, Ringier said. Kall, head of the Europe and Magazines division at Ringier, will succeed Tamedia Group CEO Michel M. Favre. However, Kall still has to integrate Ringier's new Eastern European acquisitions (see page 24) into the Group, which is why the move to Tamedia is unlikely to take place before the summer of 2002, Michael Ringier said.
