Rhaetian Railway now operates with Passenger TV
The first train of the Rhaetian Railway is currently being equipped with Passenger TV. By the end of April, all six trains on the Albula line will be running with Passenger TV. The winding route shows how Passenger TV can target each individual region with specific content thanks to geo-based data.
For more than 125 years, the Rhaetian Railway (RhB) has fascinated travelers from all over the world. In 2008, the Bernina and Albula lines were added to the UNESCO World Heritage List. The helical tunnels and viaducts - masterpieces of the railroad pioneers - still impress today.
On the Albula line from Chur, the capital of Graubünden, to St. Moritz, an innovation will now be added in April: Passenger TV programming will be launched on the modern and comfortable new Alvra articulated trains. This means that on this route, over 50,000 people a month will benefit from Passenger TV, which broadcasts news on sports, politics, business, weather and culture in a varied program, but also surprises such as live tickers of sporting events or photo participation campaigns, as well as a maximum of 25 percent advertising. The twin screen broadcasts information from the rail company on stops, timetables and traffic news.
With this new contract, Passenger TV further expands its leading position in the area of Passenger TV in Switzerland. Digital out of Home is becoming steadily more attractive; more and more companies and institutions are taking the opportunity to present themselves effectively on Passenger TV. "We are very pleased about the new cooperation with the Rhaetian Railway," says Tobias Frommenwiler, CEO at Passenger TV (pictured left). "The modern Albula articulated trains connect Chur with the Engadine. The route shows how we can customize the program to each individual region thanks to geo-based information."
RhB Director Renato Fasciati (pictured right) is also delighted: "In line with our motto , we can now offer our passengers a wide range of infotainment in addition to plenty of comfort and travel enjoyment on our state-of-the-art trains. This generates added value for our customers, but also for tourism in Graubünden, which receives an additional advertising platform."
In the canton of Graubünden, Passenger TV is already present in the Postbuses, in the Chur city bus, in the Engadin Bus operation and in public vehicles in Klosters and Davos, and is thus networked almost nationwide. Passenger information is broadcast in German as well as in Rhaeto-Romanic.
Passenger TV is the Swiss market leader in passenger TV. It is present in streetcars, buses and suburban trains in 23 cantons. The program is broadcast in the four national languages, adapted to the respective language region, and reaches more than one million passengers every day, as certified by WEMF.
