Publisuisse has drawn illegal lots

Marketer Publisuisse has violated the Lottery Act by raffling off advertising time. A Bernese court has sentenced the SRG marketer to a fine of CHF 700 for the campaign, which was held this winter to celebrate the 40th anniversary of Swiss TV advertising. Publisuisse was of the opinion that the raffle did not fall under the lottery ban because it was only aimed at customers. The court found that the legislator had deliberately placed lottery-like events on an equal footing with lotteries and wanted to send out a signal against undesirable business practices.
