Premiere: Manor introduces mobile payment
Manor is the first retailer in Switzerland to introduce mobile payments. This allows all Manor Card holders to pay for their purchases on the go using the free Manor Mobile Card smartphone app.
Following the successful test run in Basel, mobile payment will be rolled out across the board at Manor from September 30, 2013. With the launch of the Manor Mobile Card app, Manor is turning the smartphone into a wallet and offering customers an innovative, simple and free payment option for their purchases in all Manor stores, according to a statement.
Easy handling and maximum safety
The free app enables all Manor cardholders, who no longer need to carry a Manor card with them, to pay for their Manor and Jumbo purchases by smartphone. As usual, customers receive an invoice at the end of the month listing all their purchases. Installing and using the app is as easy as can be. And this is how it works: download, register and verify, pay. The app is opened and the smartphone is turned to horizontal (landscape mode). The payment screen appears with a personal barcode that is presented at the checkout.
The app combines simple handling with state-of-the-art security procedures. Each barcode is valid only once for the short period of a payment transaction and is password-protected so that it cannot be duplicated or manipulated. Nor does it contain any personal customer data. Misuse via the Internet is therefore impossible. PIN entry is required for purchases of 40 Swiss francs or more.
