Politblog launched for the election year 2011

With the start of the spring session on Monday, the Federal Parliament editorial teams at *24 heures* and *Tribune de Genève*, as well as those at *Tages-Anzeiger* and *Der Bund*, are launching a new political blog in collaboration with Newsnetz. The blog is designed to guide users through the 2011 election year.

The blog is intended to offer journalists, citizens, politicians and party representatives a platform for debate and is published in two languages wherever possible. It was launched on Monday morning with an article by Res Strehle, co-editor-in-chief of the Tages-Anzeiger, on the topic of "Are the media helping the SVP?".

The teams from French-speaking and German-speaking Switzerland publish articles on the Politblog several times a week. The media companies announced on Monday that the number of contributions per editorial team is balanced. The Newsnetz, the joint news portal of Basler Zeitung, Berner Zeitung, Der Bund and Tages-Anzeiger, is responsible for coordination.

In addition to contributions from the editorial offices, prominent political figures such as party representatives or political experts and observers will be involved in guest commentaries by means of a carte blanche. The political blog, which will mainly focus on domestic political issues, will also offer a platform to lesser-known candidates who are standing in parliamentary elections for the first time in 2011.

The new blog aims to create a political community where registered users can actively participate in the discussion and have the opportunity to rate individual contributions and thus vote on the various positions. The political blog is now available on the websites of all partners.
