Swisscom Enterprise Solutions has acquired 49.9% of the share capital of Zurich-based Web broadcasting company Unit Net AG. An option allows Swisscom to acquire a majority stake by 2005. The transaction takes place within the framework of a capital increase of Unit Net AG. Other shareholders are the company's founders and several investment companies.
Internet community continues to growThe number of Internet users in Switzerland continues to rise. According to the AG für Werbemedienforschung (Wemf), 2.375 million people are online several times a week. In the previous year, the figure was 2.096 million. 60.7% are men, 39.3% are women. At least once in the last six months, 3.195 (previous year 2.917) million people have surfed. This is 56.8% of the Swiss resident population aged 14 and over.
