New degree program for communication professionals

Training Polycom will also be offering the first comprehensive training course for communication professionals in Zurich from fall 2003.

Polycom Zurich, a joint project of Sawi and SPRI, will be offering a new entry-level course in marketing and practice-oriented communication from October 27. The school trains high school graduates or people with an adequate education during a three-year full-time course of study in the main areas of marketing, advertising and PR to become experienced professionals. The first interdisciplinary training course to become a communications consultant was successfully launched in Lausanne in 1996 and is an independently run course run by Sawi in collaboration with SPRI in Zurich. Polycom has achieved a high level of recognition and acceptance among companies and students in French-speaking Switzerland. The school is planning to launch the course in the greater Zurich area with two classes of around 30 students each. The cost of studying for the "Polycom Diploma Marketing and Communication Consultant" degree is 39500 francs for three years and includes all training materials. The average age of the future Zurich students is between 19 and 23. The lecturers are proven specialists and are recruited from the respective specialist areas of the marketing and communications industry.
Specialist certificates without preparation
Polycom students also have the opportunity to acquire the federal specialist certificates (such as marketing communications planner or public relations assistant) without further preparation. According to the examination regulations, only one year of proven practice is required for the marketing planner certificate.
Around 70 percent of the entire course program covers the areas of marketing, advertising and PR. The course also includes two four-month internships and various workshops. These are commissioned directly by companies and are not only open to Polycom's official partners.
Polycom Zurich has already gained well-known partner companies and sponsors for cooperation: APG, AWZ, "Zürich", Basler Zeitung, Cinecom, Goldbach Media, Publicis, Publimedia/Publicitas, Radiotele, La Suisse Assurances, Swissquote Group and UBS.
Together with Corinne Wälchli, Heinz Bischof is responsible for contacts with industry, career advisors, potential lecturers and future students. René Engelmann initiated Polycom Lausanne and supports the launch in Zurich in his role as Head of Polycom Switzerland.
