Associations When coordinating their positions on the new RTVA, the private TV association Telesuisse and the Swiss Private Radio Association (VSP) got on so well that Telesuisse suggested a joint umbrella organization. While the VSP instructed its board to negotiate with Telesuisse quickly (WW 11/05), Telesuisse members do not want to make this fundamental decision until the summer at the earliest. "Until then, the Board should merely make further clarifications", says President Filippo Lombardi. But why has Telesuisse suddenly got cold feet? Lombardi's answer is vague: it is unclear whether a merger or an umbrella organization should be pursued. One thing is certain: The VSP wants an umbrella organization.Perhaps the problem lies elsewhere: the publishers' association, which is aiming for an umbrella organization for all media including SRG, probably sees its idea torpedoed by the e-media association. That is why it may have had the publisher TVs at Telesuisse vote against it. He has little influence on the VSP, however, because important publisher radio stations have left. But Lombardi waves this away: "No, the fronts at Telesuisse were mixed," he claims.
