Cinema advertising for a book

CINEMAKING The book market is oversaturated. Thousands of works are published every year, and each one struggles to gain recognition. Author Piero Schäfer is taking an unusual approach: he is promoting his novel "Piratinnen" at the movies. How can you make a book known? Every publisher and every book author asks themselves this question. Because only well-known titles have a chance on the market. Apart from reviews in the media and readings, there are only a few ways to promote a literary work to the wider public in a target group-oriented way. Novelist Piero Schäfer is taking an unusual approach by partnering with the Orell Füssli bookstore to use cinema advertising. "When I recently saw the advertising slides that are shown before the movie at the Le Paris cinema, I had the idea of using them for my pirates," explains the former journalist and freelancer for MK, adding that the message had to be short, as the photo is only shown for ten seconds. And, so that the bookshop would also cooperate, it had to include a reference to the possibility of buying the book in the nearby Orell Füssli branch. Just as restaurants often offer their services in movie slides with a reference to their proximity to the cinema, moviegoers should be informed that the book is available just a few steps away from the cinema. The music-accompanied advertisement can be seen for four weeks from June 9.
