After a difficult 2001, all companies hoped that 2002 would be a better year economically. For many, however, this expectation was not fulfilled. The brochure "HandelsZeitung Top 2003", which has now been published, reveals which companies had to close the year with a loss. The compilation lists over 1400 industrial, trading and service companies as well as banks and insurance companies. Only 300 industrial companies reported a higher turnover in 2002 than in 2001, while the number of companies reporting a loss rose from 60 in 2001 to 80.
