Designer Nadine Wüthrich receives the Josef Müller-Brockmann sponsorship award
The biennial Josef Müller-Brockmann Förderpreis awarded by the Shizuko Yoshikawa and Josef Müller-Brockmann Foundation will go to Zurich designer Nadine Wüthrich in 2021.
In 2019, Nadine Wüthrich completed the master's program in Visual Communication at the Zurich University of the Arts. The designer is the second winner of the CHF 25,000 prize. The 25,00 sponsorship award is aimed at young designers who are to be recognized in their early career and supported and encouraged in their development.
The five-member jury recognizes Nadine Wüthrich's contemporary and courageous commitment to digital and hybrid publishing. In her examination of the participation of authors, readers, and other user groups in collaborative publishing processes, she explores questions of generic design, economy of effort, access, and availability. In particular, Wüthrich's thoughtful use of a wide variety of materials, ranging from annotated source texts to scholarly papers to design samples of Montessori school buildings in the "global south," convinced the jury that she was worthy of support. Wüthrich's solid and straightforward presentation of this content shows the potential to provide innovative impulses in the field of Digital Humanities.
Nadine Wüthrich was born in 1979 in Trub near Bern, she lives and works in Zurich, where she runs her own studio since 2012. . From 2017-2019 she completed the master's program in Visual Communication at the Zurich University of the Arts. Wüthrich has implemented design projects for the Federal Office of Culture BAK, Federal Chancellery BK, University of Bern, City of Bern, Canton Bern, ETH Zurich, University of Zurich UZH, Zurich University of the Arts ZHdK, intercomverlag, gta Verlag, Foraus - Forum Aussenpolitik, Arthur-Waser-Stiftung, Conrad John Godly, among others.
The award ceremony is expected to take place in the fall of 2021 at the Zurich University of the Arts.
