Gemi December 2014: Digital Out of Home with significant decline
At the end of the year, advertising pressure in the areas of TV and Internet is increasing, while digital out of home is showing a significant decline compared to the historic high in the same month of December 2013.
The development of radio and teletext is also declining. By contrast, the electronic media in general and the market as a whole remain stable. This is shown by the December edition of the Goldbach Index (GEMI) for advertising print in the overall market and the electronic media.
Compared with a strong 2014 as a whole and a historic high in the same month of December 2013, advertising print in the digital out of home segment for December 2014 was down sharply 662 (747). For Willi Meyer, Head of Sales DOOH Goldbach Media (Switzerland), however, this is definitely no reason to complain: "Overall, we are above the previous year in Digital out of Home. The Christmas business started earlier, which is also reflected in the above-average November figures. So in summary, not a decline but a slight improvement in seasonality."
Also down, though significantly lower, was advertising pressure in Radio 400 (405) and Teletext 49 (50).
An increase in advertising pressure was seen at the end of the year for TV 654 (653) and Internet 770 (767). Total electronic media 651 (651) and the overall market remain stable 238 (238).
