Facebook: Many companies do not take advantage of opportunities
The first Linkup event on social media took place in Chur. The highlight was a presentation by Facebook expert Thomas Hutter. He highlighted the ways Facebook can be used in businesses, but emphasized that many companies do not take advantage of them.
According to a press release, star guest Thomas Hutter is one of the biggest Facebook experts in the German-speaking world. In his presentation, he commented on the status quo of Facebook, which has recently had over one billion users worldwide and will soon have three million users in Switzerland. According to Hutter, Facebook should therefore not be described as hype, but should be taken seriously. However, many companies in Switzerland have not recognized this and are missing out on many opportunities. According to Hutter, companies in Switzerland still have little know-how in the area of Facebook. In addition, there is a shift in power away from the provider towards the consumer. Media behavior has therefore changed fundamentally today. These changes mean new challenges for corporate communications. According to Hutter, there is no way around the use of Facebook in companies in order to keep pace.
Companies must take action
Around 200 guests accepted the invitation to the first Linkup event. They received the answer to the question of whether companies should do something about social media. Matthias Schneider, Product Manager at Newmedia, was able to answer this question with a yes in his presentation: "It's not a question of whether you should do social media marketing, but whether you want to do optimal marketing in today's environment with new media behavior," explained Schneider. From his point of view, it is therefore obvious to use the new social media tools in the company.
The Linkup event on October 5 is the prelude to a series of events.
