Edi the second
Last Thursday evening, the Swiss Edi Award for commissioned and advertising films was presented for the second time in its new format.
Last Thursday evening, for the second time, the Swiss commissioned and commercial film prize Edi was awarded in its new form.By Beat Fritsch In the past, judging and awards took place as part of the Locarno Film Festival. However, since they parted about a year and a half ago, singing angry songs, the competition has been held in Zurich. The award, which is under the patronage of the Federal Department of Home Affairs (FDHA), was held at LakeSide Zürichhorn; last year, the Schiffbau did the honors.
After the successful start last year, those responsible wanted to give the event a touch more glamor and added a gala dinner. Whether this was a good idea remains to be seen. Not everyone liked the new program. Quite a few visitors said that the event had been more fun last year. This was only due to the location, because the stiff-looking hotel management trainees of LakeSide - such trainees are popular with system catering companies because they are cheap and nevertheless well-trained workers - can never hold a candle to the serving in-people in the Schiffbau. Add to that the fact that advertisers are not exactly known for their undemanding nature and always make special requests.
So be it, no one wanted to have their fun spoiled. Not even Rudi Haller of Haag Productions, who, despite being shortlisted twice, came away empty-handed. It is only a rumor that Haller's idea of giving his company a new name and a fresh CI is related to his performance in the competition. The project has been on his mind for some time. Thus, the targeted name - Halo Productions - was also discussed at length that evening. The most original idea was the proposed name for the subsidiary, which would simply be called "Hallöchen".
The visitors enjoyed the moderation of the award ceremony. Peter Schneider, who can be heard on weekdays on DRS 3 with his somewhat different press review, is considered a safe bet. At this award ceremony, too, the lyricist and speaker delighted the audience with bone-dry sayings and a healthy dose of sarcasm.
In the category of commissioned films, the jury did not award a prize despite 5 shortlisted candidates. Of the 13 commercials that made it to the finals, however, 6 were awarded prizes. The list of winners included well-known names such as Ernst Wirz, Michi Fueter, Blood Sweat & Tears and many others. It can be viewed at www.werbewoche.ch/edi.
IP Multimedia was generous. Not only did it co-sponsor the award ceremony and delegate Michi Frank to the panel discussion, it also booked several tables for the gala. Among the guests was Natalie Schneider, board member of the Idée-VfW communications association. She was already vigorously stirring the promotional drum for the Idée jazz event, which will take place on November 29 at "El Local". Again, she said, only the most exciting formations of the jazz academy have been engaged. And also for fine food and sufficient Tranksame are already ensured. So: Don't miss it and make a note of the date now! You can register on the homepage (www. idee-vfw.ch).

and the big Edi, winner sculpture of the Swiss Commission and Advertising Film Award. Because the piece has gigantic dimensions, we still wonder today how the various winners managed to bring their statues home. Especially since some visitors, among them also prize winners (no names!), partially lost their stability in the course of the evening.
Who else wins prizes and celebrates parties with stamina or simply gathers for a small advertiser party, we locate at the most diverse events of the scene. Do you already have something to report?
