Data & Customer Insights - Digital Marketing Trend 2020

Think with data

Let's face it: while the world's most valuable companies have already begun to Use user data in an AI-supported wayMany companies are still without significant data on the behavior of their users or a clear picture of their target group.

The evaluation and application of customer data offers competitive advantages at all levels of the company:

  • less wastage
  • Higher conversion rate
  • Process optimization and cost reduction
  • Sustainability

Although everyone is talking about artificial intelligence (AI), it is still very much in its infancy in marketing. In Switzerland, most companies will initially focus on collecting data in the coming years. The general rule is that it's better to know than to guess.

Bye Bye Gut Feeling

Anyone who starts with the concept, design or content of a new website before they have data-based knowledge about the requirements, wishes and problems of their target group is starting a high-risk blind flight. This quickly turns a redesign into Russian roulette.

You are by no means limited to quantitative data from Google Analytics. With the help of user research, SEO analysis, usability tests and visual analytics, you can quickly find out what moves your customers.

Companies that do not invest in the systematic development, analysis and use of user data in 2020 will probably cease to exist in 2021.

At the same time, it has never been so easy to gain customer insights and at the same time the backlog demand in the area of user experience (internal link to part 1 "User Centricity") is so great.

One of the biggest challenges in building and handling data is the question of privacy and data protection. This can only be answered with the user-centric approach, i.e., by seriously addressing the wishes and fears of users.

Even though many things will change significantly in 2020, one thing is certain: whoever owns or buys the more reliable or unique data and manages to combine, evaluate and enrich it most profitably will win the race in 2020.

Here's how:

Agility and iteration

The pressure in the market is increasing all the time. Not only since Growth Driven Design do we live in a "perpetual beta". No one can afford to stand still in the digital cosmos. Especially not in the year 2020.
