David Schärer, Catherine Purgly and Lorenzo Cicco new in the SLK
At its 2018 annual meeting, the Swiss Advertising Foundation for Fairness in Commercial Communication elected three new experts to its committees: Lorenzo Cicco of Admeira to the Foundation Board and Catherine Purgly, LSA, and David Schärer, Rod Kommunikation, as chamber members of the Fairness Commission.

For a three-year term from May 1, 2018, to April 30, 2021, the Swiss Advertising Foundation for Fairness in Commercial Communications has elected two new Chamber members and a new Foundation Board. New Chamber members are Catherine Purgly, Managing Director of the Leading Swiss Agencies Association, who replaces Peter Leutenegger in the Second Chamber, and David Schärer, Co-Managing Director Rod Kommunikation, who takes the place of Ueli Custer in the Third Chamber.
The three chambers are each composed of three members, who are supported by a good dozen non-voting technical experts. In each chamber, the consumer organizations - Stiftung für Konsumentenschutz SKS, Konsumentenforum KF and Fédération Romande des Consomateurs FRC -, the media professionals/PR specialists and the advertising professionals/advertisers and media providers are equally represented.
Catherine Purgly has been managing the business of the Leading Swiss Agencies association since 2015, where she also succeeded Peter Leutenegger. After gaining experience at various agencies such as Publicis, Advico Young & Rubicam and Wunderman Cato Johnson, Catherine Purgly was a member of the Executive Board of Draftfcb/Lowe Group from 2003 to 2011. Before taking over the management of LSA, she was an independent consultant for brand strategy and conception for three years.
David Schärer, who began his career in press and public relations, is co-managing director of the Rod Kommunikation agency in Zurich, which he founded together with Regula Bührer Fecker in 2007. Schärer regularly lectures at various educational institutes such as the Lucerne University of Applied Sciences and Arts, the HTW Chur or the Ad School and has already been nominated twice for the title "Advertiser of the Year".
Lorenzo Cicco new on the Foundation Board
The Swiss Advertising Foundation for Fairness in Commercial Communication elected media lawyer Lorenzo Cicco, who is Director Legal & Compliance at advertising marketer Admeira, as a new member of its Board of Trustees. He brings with him great expertise in the field of advertising marketing and media law and acts, among other things, as an audit expert in the legal department of Swiss Marketing (SMC). Lorenzo Cicco replaces Othmar Stadelmann from the same company as a representative of the advertising contractors, both as a member of the Board of Trustees and as a technical expert of the Fairness Commission.
Fulminant commitment to fair advertising
In a statement, the Swiss Advertising Foundation for Fairness in Commercial Communication expresses its sincere thanks to Ueli Custer (17 years SLK), Peter Leutenegger (7 years) and Othmar Stadelmann (21 years) for their many years of voluntary work in the SLK and their tireless commitment to fair advertising. With their great experience, unique know-how and incorruptible judgment, they had contributed significantly to balanced decisions and thus to the high level of acceptance of the Fairness Commission in recent years and had also been involved in various working groups. Most recently, they were involved in the development of the guidelines for the Stop Advertising Sticker as well as in the general revision of the principles and rules of procedure of the SLK, which is expected to be completed this spring.
