CR Basel: Campaign addresses Internet addiction
On behalf of the Basel Department of Health, CR Basel has created a campaign that raises awareness about Internet addiction.
News, games, social media, shopping and infinitely more: while selective use of the Internet can be enriching, more and more people are getting lost in the almost unquantifiable digital abundance and ultimately suffering from Internet addiction. In Switzerland alone, 70,000 people are affected, according to a press release. Many more have a problematic approach to this medium, which results in health impairments and neglect at work and in relationships. Particularly at risk are young people who are not yet able to control their behavior very well.
The health department of the canton of Basel-Stadt is now using a campaign developed by CR Basel to encourage people to think about their personal use of the Internet: The catchy message, supported by eye-catching key visuals, "Switch off! Check deinen Internet-Konsum" (Switch off! Check your Internet consumption) has recently been appearing in Basel on streetcar posters, e-boards and ads in the commuter newspaper 20 Minuten. A brochure produced in collaboration with the Department of Behavioral Addictions at the University Psychiatric Clinics in Basel, which includes an integrated self-test and is available in BVB streetcars, is intended to raise public awareness of the issue in greater depth and at the same time lists the addresses of important contact points in the canton of Basel-Stadt.
