Federal Council does not want to force Cablecom
Media Policy: The removal of TV channels from cable networks cannot be prevented in the future either.
Media policy The switch-off of TV stations in cable networks cannot be prevented in the future either, according to the Federal Council's response to an interpellation concerning the fate of the local station ZüriPlus. Cablecom replaced ZüriPlus with U-1 TV at the end of 2003 due to a lack of frequencies. As the new RTVA no longer prescribes a license for broadcasters without terrestrial distribution or a fee share, a general obligation for network operators to switch on would be disproportionate, according to the Federal Council.
