40 years of the Eastern Switzerland PR Association

PROL, the Eastern Switzerland Association of PR and Communications Specialists, recently held its 40th General Assembly. In addition to two new members on the board, newly launched professional training programs are bringing a breath of fresh air to the PR industry in Eastern Switzerland.

President Anita Schweizer welcomed 30 members to the anniversary general meeting of the Public Relations Society of Eastern Switzerland/Liechtenstein (PROL). They were able to take note of healthy finances and a wide range of activities. There were two changes to the board: Dominik Joos and Cornelia Lutz stepped down for professional reasons after several years of service. The AGM elected Robert Stadler, Head of Communications at IHK St.Gallen-Appenzell, and Nora Fuchs, consultant at the communications agency Yjoo, as new members of the board. Thanks to its cooperation with the neighboring regional associations of the German and Austrian PR associations, the PROL is also internationally networked. At the end of May, it will make an appearance at the European Communications Convention. This conference for communications specialists from all over Europe is taking place this year in Rorschach and Bregenz.

New training and further education courses

On the initiative of PROL, Celaris, the St. Gallen-based school of KV Ost, has launched a further education program in PR and communication. Anita Schweizer was very pleased about this, as professional communication requires sound training. The fact that this gap in the offering in Eastern Switzerland could be filled thanks to the cooperation with the KV is an important sign. Companies and institutions have difficulty recruiting well-trained communication specialists in the region. In addition, PR professionals need to continuously train themselves in order to keep pace with the changes in digitalization and the media.
