Last but not least: Two more arguments for print
The printed newspaper must not die out, because there are plenty of things that wouldn't be possible without a print version. An anonymous English commuter shows us what, for example.
Despite all the euphoria for e-papers, e-books and digital media, many people still appreciate holding a piece of paper in their hands. Facebook CEO Sheryl Sandberg, for example, explained in an interview with the Sonntagszeitung why she is and remains a passionate print reader: "You know: reading newspapers on the iPad can be tedious. Like when you're on the treadmill with sweaty fingers trying to turn the page. It's virtually impossible."
It would also be virtually impossible for the anonymous English commuter to use folded iPads to photograph other commuters, turning them into bizarre mixtures of celebrities, genders or even dogs. It's better done with real newspapers. The results have something. For once, this would be a sensible trend to copy. Published the photos New York Daily News. (hae)
