Last but not least: Think global, insult local
Ever since the fierce battle at Morgarten and the ambush at Hohle Gasse, at the very least, we’ve known that an ambush can happen at any time in Central Switzerland. The most recent attack took place on Google Earth.
At the latest since the wild knocking at Morgarten and the leaf shot in Hohle Gasse, we know that an ambush can always happen in Central Switzerland. But times are changing, halberds and crossbows are no longer in vogue, and so an unknown person from the 3,300-strong community of Schötz in the Lucerne hinterland has moved his attack to the Internet. In Google Earth, the apparently slightly frustrated contemporary added pictures and his own comments to almost every house in the village. The pictures included an "overgrown" house and one that was "run-down" due to an inheritance dispute, a "divorce house", a "youth house" and one inhabited by a "dark-skinned family". The images have since been objected to and deleted by Google, and preliminary investigation proceedings have been initiated by the cantonal police. For municipal president Iseli-Buob, the action is an "absolute impertinence" and criminal charges are expected to be brought by the municipality and individuals. It will be of little use.
