Last but not least: A different kind of liquidation display
An «no-holds-barred liquidation» took place this week in Zollikon. The Swiss Oriental Carpet Group in Zug was commissioned to carry out the liquidation. That’s the story—that’s the advertising…
"Once again, an internationally active, renowned wholesale company has to cease business operations after more than five decades due to the threat of insolvency...", it continues. The advertisement is a collection of news-oriented synonyms with the core message "everything must go, come by and buy cheaper". The picture of a storage room, accompanied by a caption, was probably intended to support the impression that this was a journalistic report. However, the second column provides more information: "All fellow citizens are now called upon to make extensive use of their right to act...".
For once, a simple liquidation advertisement was transformed into a publicity report.

Three years ago, a Zug-based company tried to sell its "unique masterpieces" in the Zollikon community hall. This is what the Tagesanzeiger.ch in March 2010. The company Alektra Mercantile, Shipping & Financing, based in Zug, is at work in Zollikon. Now the same company is trying again, but this time the public limited company is called the Swiss Oriental Carpet Group. The name was changed around three weeks ago. (uma)
