Last but not least: FC Muhen goes Panini

To boost the club's coffers, FC Muhen has published its own sticker album. The idea isn't new, but it's always a good one.

FC Muhen is 55,000 francs short of what it needs to keep going. A big hole for a small club. In order to raise the necessary funds, the amateur club celebrated the launch of its own scrapbook last Saturday. There are 289 pictures to be collected, representing not only the players of the entire junior, women's and men's teams, but also all the other people who work day in, day out to ensure the smooth running of the club - the officials, but also the school caretaker, for example, as President Christian Stecher told Tele M1 explained.

The sticker album was realized with the Berlin-based company Myfooza.comwhich has already produced around 60 albums for amateur clubs. The costs for the 400 albums printed in Switzerland and the 10,000 stickers produced in Berlin are covered 100 percent by sponsors. According to the association Aargauer newspaper Income in the mid four-figure range - the pictures can be bought for one franc per pack of five at the butcher, in the stationery shop, in the garage or from the trainers.

In contrast to Germany, football clubs publishing their own collector's albums is still a rare phenomenon in this country. However, the idea is not quite as new as some media have made it out to be. For example, FC Goldach and its initiators Beni Eugster and Claudio Bellini launched a self-produced album called "Bennini" back in the 2007/2008 season and it was a big seller with 120,000 pictures sold.

Swap Vujo for groundsman

However, the actual album pioneer in Switzerland is none other than FC Zurich. According to football magazine Zwölf, the club published an album called "Total FCZ" back in 2003. A complete inventory of the city club: from the sausage seller to the secretary to the groundsman, there was room for everyone on the collector's pictures. And of course all the FCZ footballers. For example, young hopeful Vujo Gavric. Or thirteen-year-old Marco Schönbächler and fifteen-year-old Shkelzen Gashi. Or FCZ veteran Dani Wyler. A great contemporary document.

Even if the FC Muhen album will probably not produce quite as many big names and bachelors: The joy of collecting should also be great enough in the environment of the Aargau amateur club to make the campaign a success. (hae)
