Last but not least: The big binge
The deal is now complete: The beer company InBev is acquiring Anheuser-Busch, the largest American brewer, thereby surpassing SABMiller, the British company that previously had the highest revenue.
The deal that has been on the cards for some time is now complete: the Belgian-Brazilian beer group InBev is taking over the largest American brewer Anheuser-Busch, overtaking the UK group SABMiller, which previously had the highest turnover. To summarize: the global number two takes over the number three and becomes number one. The new group is teeming with global brands such as Budweiser, Bud Light, Stella Artois, Becks, Diebels, Hoegaarden and the Munich beers Löwenbräu, Spaten and Franziskaner. And of course the online columns are now outdoing each other with sweeping drinking metaphors because of this concentration of beers: "2 swallows 3", "Number 1 drinks up" etc., after all, it's all about drinking, or beer, which is also drunk. And all in all, the superlatives and power expressions used really do justice to the dimensions: the purchase price is around 52 million francs, it is the biggest takeover in brewing history, the new Anheuser-Busch InBev group holds around 50 percent of the American market and produces one in four beers worldwide. Cheers then!
