Last but not least: Standing out is everything
Death metal band logos all look pretty much the same. Except for one. A festival capitalized on this for a viral stunt and, together with the band, has suddenly found itself in the spotlight.
Not only does everything in death metal sound the same, it also all looks the same. At least for outsiders who are not familiar with the genre. The songs are barely distinguishable to untrained ears, the logos even less so to untrained eyes. One exception is the Scottish band "Party Cannon". Compared to the rest of the scene, they not only have a rather sweet name, but also an extremely sweet band logo. It is actually more reminiscent of a toy store or children's birthday party than of death and destruction. Even without colors. This is how the "Bay Area Deathfest 2" festival actually got it right. official poster printed. However, it was the color version that went viral:

And when suddenly sites like Buzzfeed.com or Drlima.net pick up on the theme, the viral coup is perfect. For the festival and the band. Because the band, according to reports, are not actually that good. Musically. But when it comes to marketing, the other bands can still cut themselves a thick, colorful slice without ornate tribals.
