See Yourself In Others

To promote the Tribeca Film Festival, DDB New York got passersby thinking.

In today's troubled times, the message seems to hit the mark: The ability to better empathize with others would be good for humanity. The ambient action filmed by DDB New York provokes exactly that: seeing oneself in the other person. Equipped with reflective cube heads, the curious observer became the curiously observed. A crash course in empathy.

The fact that the campaign promotes a film festival is (of course) no coincidence. As DDB CCO Icaro Doria explains, it is precisely the stories told in films that confront viewers with unfamiliar, even unpleasant situations and thus allow viewers to adopt different perspectives and points of view: "More than ever, we need these stories and this empathy".

The Tribeca Film Festival was launched in 2002 by actor Robert De Niro and producer Jane Rosenthal in response to September 11. After the terrorist attacks, the Tribeca district, which is located near the destroyed Twin Towers, was to be filled with life again. The two founders own a film production company together in the neighborhood, and De Niro also owns a hotel and a restaurant. (hae)
