Man, wake up!
Putin, Trump, and Erdogan are the «unwilling stars» of a G20-critical campaign by Fritz-Kola. With its posters and the slogan «Come on, wake up,» the beverage manufacturer is taking a stand against the summit.

The Group of 20 leading industrialized and emerging countries is the most important voting forum in international financial and economic policy. This time, the powerful are meeting in Hamburg, in the alternative Schanzenviertel district. Weeks before the summit, the negative attitude of Hamburg's residents against the summit was already clearly perceptible. On Thursday, massive protest rallies took place. The Schanzenviertel is home to the beverage brand Fritz-Kola, which is taking up the summit in a provocative campaign. Campaign subject are the controversial rulers, Putin, Erdogan and Trump, who are depicted sleeping behind their microphones, in addition to the claim: "Man, wake up".

On the campaign page, Fitz-Kola comments on the background of the campaign: "It can already be read in newspapers and on the walls of buildings: On July 7-8, Hamburg will host the G20 summit and thus the heads of state and government of the world's largest industrialized nations and emerging economies. The annual summit is a showdown of the already strongest nations and is associated, among other things, with encroachments on the fundamental rights of the population and restrictions for residents and tradespeople - homeless people are being evicted from the city center and parts of Hamburg are being declared a restricted area. Unfortunately, however, this has nothing to do with groundbreaking results for the common good. According to our Chancellor, the agenda of the G20 summit does include items such as fair distribution of wealth, inclusive economic growth and an effective climate protection policy - but what can we seriously expect when the discussions are led by politicians who already sweep such important topics as freedom of expression (e.g. Erdogan), climate protection (e.g. Trump) and social supply systems (e.g. Putin) under the carpet in their own countries?" However, Fitz-Kola not only wants to shake things up, but also called for more political engagement from the population. The hashtag #menschwachauf aimed to motivate Twitter and Instagram users to share their opinions on the G20 summit. And the beverage company wanted to turn those opinions into donations for the homeless. It announced that if 100 tweets or posts were made with the hashtag #menschwachauf, it would donate 1000 euros; if 500 posts were made, 2000 euros; and if 1000 posts were made, 5000 euros.

The campaign, created by Blood Actvertising, hit the mark. The visuals became a viral hit on Twitter and Instagram. The target amount of donations was reached long ago. Whether Fitz Kola was able to get their drinks to the "tired men" is unknown.... (nod)
