Dyslexia - a stroke of luck

Semen Bank Deluxe: In London, Y&R dispelled the misconception that people with dyslexia live with a disability.

Once again, a pretty convincing out-of-the-box idea. And inspiring. Or what goes through your mind when you hear that someone is dyslexic? 80 percent seem to assume that it's some kind of disability or simply inability. At least everyone seems to agree: it's a disadvantage.

It is not. Dyslexics may function slightly differently, but they are absolutely no worse. Actually, rather better. For example, 40 percent of all self-made millionaires are said to "suffer" from dyslexia. And the long list of famous people with reading and writing difficulties does not necessarily suggest that this puts them at too great a disadvantage in life: Steve Jobs, Bill Gates, Albert Einstein, John Lennon, Ernest Hemingway, Charles Darwin, Alfred Hitchcock, Ikea founder Ingvar Kamprad - to name just a few bright minds.

Y&R has therefore turned the tables in London and set up a seed bank for dyslexics. Approach: statistically speaking, there is nothing better than being affected. The fake sperm bank served to arouse curiosity and educate passers-by. And to turn the reactions into a film that will presumably broaden the horizons of many people. (hae)
