The raging princess

Audi is fighting against entrenched gender stereotypes behind the wheel—and in gaming.

How smart it is to put a three-minute animated Christmas spot on YouTube only on December 24 is anyone's guess. Maybe "Let's change the Game" wasn't finished before then. The animated gender reminder finger looks elaborate enough. At any rate, this would explain why the film has only had 26,000 clicks two weeks after its release. On the 24th, the colleagues from Adweek & Co. will presumably already be on vacation, and so the spot can be found on virtually no major industry portal.

The film actually deserved some attention. A mixture of "Toy Story", "Find the One" from Triumph/Stories and #LikeAGirl. It tells the story of the toy character Nicole. The princess is fed up with the tasks assigned to her and would rather sit behind the wheel of the racy Audi R8 than in the carriage.

Audi, for example, is not only fighting for children to be able to play with the toys they want to play with - whether they are dolls or racing cars - regardless of gender and without worry. But also, of course, for more women in the driver's seat of "men's cars". Especially when it comes to expensive sports cars from Audi. High heels perhaps but better take off before.

A look at the YouTube comments shows: The spot is well received by viewers. Maybe it will go viral after all - after Christmas is before Christmas, as we all know. Or maybe there will be some outrage, at least in Germany, because the Audi shown has the number 88 on its license plate. (hae)
