Audi drives up the legendary Streif with the E-Tron electric car

The E-Tron had to tackle a gradient of no less than 85 percent when Audi sent it up the downhill course in Kitzbühel at the end of January. No problem at all.

Snow sports stunts have a long tradition at Audi: back in 1986, the Ingolstadt-based company chased the Quattro up a ski jump, creating one of the most legendary advertising campaigns in automotive history.

To promote the E-Tron electric SUV - a beacon of hope in the arms race for the automotive future - Audi recently returned to the fascination of Alpine extremes. Nothing is more emblematic of the supposed invincibility of the mountain than the legendary Streif - the most difficult World Cup downhill run in the Alpine ski circuit. The extremely steep and challenging course in Kitzbühel has pushed many an athlete to their physical and mental limits.

That's what you would expect from an electric car in the snow. But the E-Tron's batteries seemed to withstand the strain. The vehicle mastered the 85 percent incline of the "Mausefalle" with ease. The E-Tron used a special Quattro drive with two electric motors on the rear axle and one electric motor on the front axle. With adapted software, the car achieved a total boost output of up to 370 kW (over 500 hp) and a total output of 8920 Nm of wheel torque. Have a good drive!
