Oh, letter post
Some things can never be replaced by digital.

After their memorable trip to Iceland, a group of tourists wanted to send a thank-you letter to the farming family who had let them spend the night on their farm. As they had neither the name nor the address of the generous Icelanders, they did what you can only do as long as people with common sense continue to process the message: They drew and wrote down what they knew - and hoped that the man who had left before they left Reykjavik shipped letter arrives anyway. It came.

Rebecca Cathrine Kaadu Ostenfeld - the Danish wife who works in the supermarket - wrote an enthusiastic letter to the Icelandic news portal Skessuhornwhich published the story in May under the title "Anything is possible in Iceland". And finally, the letter ended up on the portal Redditwhere the story inspired hundreds of readers to share their personal mail stories. One woman, for example, wrote that she had sent a ten-kilogram parcel from South Korea to her home country of Finland. With the recipient's correct address and telephone number - but without a house number. The parcel had made it to the post office directly opposite the destination address. From there it went back to South Korea - incomplete address.
The Iceland story is much more appealing. Unsurprisingly, it went viral via Reddit and ended up on BBC. The Icelandic tourist office must be watery-eyed with joy at so much free advertising. As if the European Football Championship wasn't enough promotion for this strange, fascinating country that you really want to visit. Now more than ever. (hae)
