Rebel Communication launches galactic plastic campaign for Greenpeace Switzerland

Through a compelling campaign and a «flood of plastic ads» in *20 Minuten*, Greenpeace Switzerland and Rebel Communication are raising awareness about reducing plastic use. The goal is a plastic-free future—supported by political advocacy and tips for everyday life.

"Houston, we have a plastic problem" - with this appeal, Greenpeace Switzerland and Rebel Communication are launching an attention-grabbing campaign against plastic pollution. The cross-media campaign culminates in a "flood of plastic advertisements" in the German and French-language editions of 20 Minuten and is intended to highlight the urgency of the plastic problem: Nearly 5 billion tons of plastic pollute the environment today, much of it in the oceans and as microplastics in the food chain. Despite the high volume, only a fraction - around 10 percent - of plastic waste is recycled.

The campaign is based on a galactic production that presents a future without plastic and provides practical tips on how to reduce plastic in everyday life. At the same time, Greenpeace is getting politically involved and calling for a strong agreement at the upcoming global plastics negotiations in November. Supporters are called upon to reconsider their plastic consumption and exert pressure on the Swiss delegation. Greenpeace is ensuring broad mobilization with national ads, social media and email campaigns. The Zurich-based agency Rebel Communication developed the strategy for the campaign and implemented it creatively.
