PET Recycling Switzerland and Rosarot resurrect bottles
To increase the recycling rate in Switzerland, Rosarot implemented an OOH campaign for PET Recycling Switzerland. On a landing page, the PET recycling cycle can be learned in a playful way. Bastian Baker also plays a major role in the campaign.
With around 45,000 tons of bottles per year, PET is Switzerland's most popular beverage packaging and recycling makes it one of the most environmentally friendly raw materials available. Switzerland was therefore one of the first countries in the world to close the PET beverage bottle cycle and produce new PET bottles from old ones.
Last year, the recycling process saved 34 million liters of petroleum and prevented 126,000 tons of greenhouse gases. However, in order to achieve Switzerland's climate targets, greenhouse gas emissions must be further reduced by 2030. An important step towards this would be to increase the recycling rate for PET bottles.
Response rate in Switzerland only 82 percent
But there is still room for improvement in the PET return rate, which has stagnated in Switzerland for years at around 82 percent. In the course of the new campaign, the PET Recycling Switzerland association, which is responsible for the collection and recycling of PET, therefore wants to sensitize the population to dispose of every PET bottle correctly. After all, one can only speak of recycling when PET is collected and returned to the cycle as reprocessed recycled PET (R-PET).
The idea came from Rosarot: A PET bottle can only live on if it is disposed of properly; otherwise it is lost forever. As a result, a resurrected PET bottle with wings was created as a key visual to remind each person to give his empty bottle a new life.
R-PET for a more sustainable future
How this "rebirth" now really works is now shown by the landing page developed by Rosarot in collaboration with motion designer Stefan Hüsser. At Pet.ch the PET cycle is presented at a glance as an animation and its five steps are transformed into a digital and contemporary form. Using various gamification ideas, the entire process can now be learned in a playful way. For example, falling PET bottles have to be collected, sorted out, or blown up into real bottles again at the end. There is also a competition.
Bastian Baker gives each PET bottle a new life
For the campaign, PET-Recycling Switzerland was also able to win Bastian Baker as a testimonial and ambassador, who will ensure on social channels and in display ads that Switzerland is aware of the cycle and the sweepstakes on Pet.ch can discover. For this, the association worked with other partners such as the director Lukas Wellauer and the agencies H2 Agency, ContentMakers, Mediatonic and Hutter Consult.
Rosarot's activation campaign can currently be seen on numerous OOH billboards throughout Switzerland.
