Delicacy raises awareness of the risks of gambling
A national awareness campaign on the subject of gambling addiction will be launched for the second time on Monday. Over the next few months, it will highlight the risks of gambling and the help available on the Internet. The trilingual campaign was implemented by the Feinheit agency.
Problem gambling is not uncommon in Switzerland: according to the Swiss Health Survey 2022, 4.3% of the population had problematic gambling habits. The risks are particularly high with the increasingly widespread online gambling. When the e-games study published in 2023 confirmed this, the prevention programs of all cantons and the Principality of Liechtenstein joined forces for a campaign for the first time.
This national awareness campaign is now entering its second round. It will be distributed via various online channels from Monday until the beginning of October. The cantons have once again commissioned the Feinheit agency to design and implement the campaign.
Players should question their motivation
The campaign addresses those affected via social media, YouTube, online portals and prominently placed results in Google searches. Animated videos and image ads show different motivations for gambling, such as kicks, relaxation or fun, and question them. At the heart of the campaign is the trilingual website Gambling-check.chwhere the target group can explore a total of six motivations in depth and find out about help available throughout Switzerland.
The content builds on the 2023 campaign. However, Feinheit has completely revised both the advertising material and the website. In particular, the risks of gambling are highlighted more quickly and clearly. There is also a new campaign strand aimed at the relatives of those affected and offering them support.
