Ewz and TBWA\Zurich show generation portraits

Ewz is building a climate-friendly energy future for over 200,000 households in Zurich and Graubünden. In its first campaign for Ewz, TBWA\Zurich showcases this new energy through colorful portraits of different generations.

At the end of 2023, 447,082 people lived in the city of Zurich, more than ever before. In the middle scenario The population is expected to reach around 515,000 by 2040. More population means more electric cars, more AI and more heat pumps - and all of this requires more electricity. The net-zero targets also require solutions with renewable energies.

Ewz is therefore continuously expanding the use of local energy sources, for example for 100% natural electricity from its own and partner power plants, with the construction of the lake water network for Coolcity or by promoting solar roofs. These are generational projects - new energy for generations.

Because common interests unite the generations of today and tomorrow - across all age groups, skin colors, educational levels and energy needs - TBWA\Zurich developed the idea of generational portraits. "We really liked the idea of cross-generational groups being recognizable as belonging together through specific characteristics," explains Sina Gelin, Account Director at TBWA\Zurich.

The subjects were realized with the photographer duo Braschler Fischer, also known for their series "The Human Face of Climate Change". The poster campaign starts on Monday and can be seen in Zurich and Graubünden for around a month.

"Along the customer journey, we pick people up on the street with posters, reach them digitally on the move with mobile targeting from Aymo and accompany them home on the streetcar and on social media with the energy quiz, which deepens their knowledge of renewable energies," explains Katrin Rüesch, Senior Campaign Manager at Ewz.
