Adrienne Lahens from TikTok: "It's all about creative bravery"
In a video interview in Cannes with m&k Werbewoche.ch, Adrienne Lahens, Global Head of Content Strategy and Operations at TikTok, provides exclusive insights into the platform’s latest AI tools, which are designed to support brands and creators.

This year's Cannes Lions International Festival of Creativity was the stage for a series of major announcements from social media platform TikTok. Adrienne Lahens shows how these new innovations are set to revolutionize the way brands and creators produce content and interact with their community.
New tools unveiled
Back in May, the TikTok World 2024 presented the two new advertising solutions TikTok Symphony and TikTok One. TikTok Symphony is a suite of AI tools that support marketing experts in the creation and optimization of content. TikTok One on the other hand, is an all-in-one creative platform that offers brands access to almost two million creators as well as the TikTok Creator Marketplace and the TikTok Creative Challenge. Further tools have now been announced at Cannes Lions to complement this AI suite.
One of the new features is Symphony AI Dubbing. The translation tool automatically recognizes and transcribes the original language of a video and translates the content into over ten languages, including German. It also creates a synchronized video in the selected languages. Adrienne Lahens emphasized that AI Dubbing helps to keep the creators' messages understandable and authentic worldwide.

Another tool is Symphony Creative Studio. The AI-based video generator enables brands and creators to create and edit TikTok-relevant videos in just a few steps. The tool combines the efficiency of AI with human creativity, which should facilitate the production of high-quality content and meet current trends. According to Lahens, Symphony Creative Studio speeds up the creative process and improves production quality.
Symphony Assistant is a creative AI assistant that helps advertisers optimize their campaigns. It provides inspiration, generates and refines scripts, and delivers recommendations for best practices based on a variety of TikTok ad campaigns. Lahens explained that the Symphony Assistant is designed to facilitate the creative process and increase campaign effectiveness, allowing marketers to turn their ideas into tangible, effective campaigns.
The Symphony Ads Manager integration makes it possible to automatically generate, correct and optimize videos. It is seamlessly integrated into the TikTok Ads Manager and helps brands to efficiently manage their advertising campaigns and achieve the best possible results.
Symphony Avatars are AI-generated representations of real people that bring content to life and add a personal, human touch to branded content. There are two types of avatars: Stock Avatars, which are created with paid actors and licensed for commercial use, and Custom Avatars, which are developed specifically to represent a creator or brand ambassador. These avatars can be used in different languages and with a variety of gestures and facial expressions. Lahens emphasized that Symphony Avatars offer an innovative way to tell stories globally and deepen the connection with communities.
Finally, there is the Symphony Collective Industry Advisory Board, an advisory collective made up of various creators, brand executives, agencies, industry experts and partners. This board serves to test generative AI products and promote the responsible use of AI technology. The aim is to ensure that the new tools are used ethically and effectively. Lahens emphasized that the Symphony Collective brings together valuable perspectives and experiences to shape the future of creative AI.
Challenges and opportunities for brands
When asked how brands should deal with the new demands on TikTok, Lahens explains: "Marketers have to manage a huge amount of content on the platform. TikTok has so many different communities, and the way to reach them is by working with creators who produce authentic content. One way to create this amount of content is by using our new AI tools."
A look into the future
The new tools should not only make content production more efficient, but also increase the reach and engagement of brands. "It's about having freedom of expression, trying out new tools and being bold in how you interact with consumers," says Lahnes. This is also reflected in the philosophy that TikTok issued at this year's Cannes Lions: creative courage. With the new AI tools Symphony Digital Avatars, AI Dubbing and Symphony Collective, TikTok is once again setting new standards in creative content production. Brands and creators now have powerful tools at their fingertips to tell their stories in innovative and effective ways and to reach and inspire their target groups worldwide.
