In the three months up to the end of December, flourishing advertising revenue caused turnover to rise by eleven percent year-on-year to 1.0 billion dollars (0.9 billion euros), thus clearly exceeding expectations. The share price initially climbed by over eight percent in pre-market trading.

However, high costs reduced the quarterly profit from 255 million to 119 million dollars. The number of daily active users increased from 145 to 152 million within three months. For some time now, the company no longer mentions the previously significant number of users active at least once a month, which had reached around 330 million. Twitter increased its revenue by 14 percent to 3.46 billion dollars in the 2019 financial year as a whole. Net profit increased from 1.2 billion to 1.5 billion dollars. (SDA)
